Developmental Day Center
MERCI's Developmental Day Center works to instill essential skills in the areas of self-care/grooming, socialization, recreation, pre-vocational/vocational training as well as independent living skills. Under the umbrella of "independent living skills" , consumers are instructed in basic self-care skills, positive interaction, health and safety issues as well as shopping and leisure time activities. Consumers are taken on frequent outings into the community to help reinforce these skills.
DISCOVERY Program
The DISCOVERY Program provides services to developmentally disabled individuals with medically fragile conditions and/or behavioral challenges that prevent them from attending day programs. This allows consumers to access services that were previously unavailable to them. Consumers benefit from one-to-one interaction and an individualized plan developed to their specific needs. Services may include independent living skills, self-care skills, and sensory stimulation, range of motion therapy, as well as socialization and recreation.
Extended Services Program
The Extended Services Program offer morning and afternoon care for consumers who need additional care before or after their day program. The Extended Services Program operates Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m.- 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. –6:00 p.m.
Ernie's Place
Ernie's Place is MERCI's group home. The group home is named in honor of Ernestine Giacoletto, whose generous donation helped make Ernie's Place a reality. The 9,000 square foot home was designed specifically to accommodate a range of disabilities including non-ambulatory residents. Each resident is given a private room. Ernie's Place residents are supported by 24 hour staff that assists them in leading independent lives.
